HTC Desire APN settings for o2

The following setting is the solution for everyone who got a HTC Desire not from o2 and wants to use it with o2 data package in Germany. Maybe it works in other countries as well.

Go to Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names, hit the MENU button and create a new APN.

Name: o2 Internet
APN: internet

Everything else can be empty or default. Save and enjoy mobile internet!

  1. Hendrik. this was of great help to me, in my unusual situation. I have an Irish o2 branded, but unlocked HTC Desire. When I inserted my Polish operator sim form PLUS I could not get internet data. the transition from Irish to Polish SIM was seamless on my old unlocked iPhone. I googled APN settings for the Polish operator PLUS and it suggests http://www.plusgsm.pl as a name, along with specific DNS addresses. However the o2 branded HTC Desire does not have DNS options under the Add APN setting. I searched for hours and tried all sorts of settings, without success. I did not want to de-brand or root the phone. Finally I found this post and although the scenario does not match mine the solution works perfectly. I eneterd “internet” and “internet” in the Name and APN fields under Add APN, and immediately I got H and 3G connctivity. If I the spoke Polish language I may have got this info from PLUS support but as they dont carry this HTC model I wouldn’t assume that either. Thanks a million Hendrik, or as it is December 2010, perhaps I should say “Thanks a billion” :)

  2. Hi, I just flashed my rom for the HTC HD2 and I’m using the Deisre nand rom and it was working fine for a day and it lost the data connection now I was given this

    Name: T-Mobile US
    APN: epc.tmobile.com
    Proxy: (leave this blank)
    Port: (leave this blank)
    Username: (leave this blank)
    Password: (leave this blank)
    Server: (leave this blank)
    MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
    MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50
    MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0 (if you have this)
    MCC: 310
    MNC: 260
    APN Type: default,supl,mms

Now I only get H or Edge, I don’t know what H stands for but I get that and Edge I saw 3g once with no bars.

Can you show me like I just showed you where you put “internet” and “internet”, did you use the quotes and did you enter it side by side or what, you can use my sample settings to show me please.
